100 Detroit Female Bloggers Campaign

100 Detroit Female Bloggers Campaign

This year I had the pleasure of joining my favorite Femology fam for the second year of their 100 Detroit Female Bloggers campaign. For those of you who don’t know, Femology is a business lounge located in Detroit for women (they’re in the process of renovating their new location now) that focus on an inviting and open community for women to work and do their business. They also host events about once a month for women to network and grow their community, such as the 100 Detroit Female Bloggers campaign. I couldn’t have been more honored to be chosen twice. Ever since joining this uplifting community of women on the same path as me, I’ve never felt more connected to a group of women. We all look out for each other and uplift each other. My platforms have grown tremendously since connecting with Femology over a year ago.

What I’ve Learned in my Year of Blogging

What I’ve Learned in my Year of Blogging

I love reflecting and looking back to see what was done correctly and incorrectly. I learned this tactic from one of my writing professors freshman year of college. She said reflection allows you to grow and look back on mistakes and opportunities to improve for next time so that’s exactly what I’m going to do! First off, I cannot believe I’ve been blogging for A WHOLE YEAR! I feel like I just started this but it quite literally has been a year so, here are some of the things I’ve learned. It doesn’t even directly relate to blogging but just life in general.

Advice from my Beautiful Mother

Advice from my Beautiful Mother

I stole this idea from Aspyn Ovard who also had her mom write a blog post with advice to her. I thought it was a cute idea and I’ve been wanting to involve my mom in a blog post for a little while so I thought this was perfect! Make sure to check out Aspyn’s post. My mom is one of the closest people in my life and I trust her fully. She gives the best advice, so listen up ladies! Here is my mama’s advice…

About Me

About Me

About

Hello, welcome to my page! My name is Tayler May. This is a place where I aspire to spread my creativity and encourage other women to chase their dreams and be comfortable in their own skin. I post a new blog post every Saturday. I like to mix it up with something related to body positivity, fashion inspiration/tips, travel, lifestyle, beauty, etc. I am always open to suggestions of what you would like to see more of.

My Story

To start with a little bit about me. I’m a senior at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, studying marketing and entrepreneurship. I have always aspired to aim for a career where I can input my creativity and really enjoy what I am doing.

Starting at a young age I was always fascinated with makeup and fashion. As I got older this didn’t change, surprisingly enough. When social media started becoming more popular and I was able to see these beauty and fashion bloggers reaching such a large audience, it made me want to do it as well. Starting June 21st, 2018, I decided to stop sitting behind the sidelines and finally start doing what I set out to do.

As far as the future is concerned, my dream is to move from my small suburb in Metro Detroit to the Big Apple. I traveled to New York City for the first time the summer after I graduated high school. Instantly, I fell in love but, to be honest, I was in love before I even stepped foot in the famous city. I thrive off of seeing different fashion trends worn by a variety of people. The buzz and energy of everyone and everything lights my creative fire.

Questions

Where are you located?

I live in a suburb of Metro Detroit about 30 minutes from downtown. I didn’t recently fall in love with the downtown area until a couple years ago when I started exploring more with my best friends. There is a stigma about Detroit but generally only the bad parts of the city are broadcasted online. Funny enough, most of my Instagram pictures are shot downtown because it is so beautiful.

Who do you get your style inspiration from?

Sarah Tripp or Sassyredlipstick is one of my favorites. She actually inspired me to be comfortable in my own skin and that I can be fashionable even though I am curvy. I actually met her and her husband, Robbie, in New York City last Summer and they are the kindest, most down-to-earth people ever.

Aspyn Ovard is another one of my favorites! Her style is my idea of the perfect casual, girly chic. Her online shop, Luca and Grae, is one of my favorite stores as well.

Danielle Carolan is also of favorite of mine. She has a similar style to Aspyn but in a fun, neutral, and creative way. Overall, girly styles are my favorite!

 Why “taylerreneemay?”

Well… Tayler Renee May is my full name and I always thought it had a nice ring to it. I don’t think a lot of people know my full name because I always grew up with people calling Tayler May thinking May was my middle name. Now that I am creating a platform I figured it was a good time to get people to know my full name!

How can I contact you?

Feel free to DM me on any of my social media accounts! I am @taylerreneemay on Instagram and Tayler May on Facebook and Twitter. You can also contact me through my email, taylerreneemay@gmail.com! I love hearing from you guys and I try my best to respond to everyone.
