8 Self-Care Tips to Relieve Stress

Self-care is the solution to most problems related to stress and tension. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or anxious, I make sure to take some time to practice self-care. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Depending on the type of day you’re having or your schedule, you can be sure to fit in some time for yourself.

Go for a walk: I find that a nice walk around my neighborhood really lets me clear my mind. It’s much better than just sitting at home on the couch, that’s for sure. Now that the weather is warming up again, I can’t wait to start taking walks again.

Take a warm shower or bath: Who doesn’t love a nice warm shower or bath? With some tunes in the back and time for yourself, that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Read a book: Put your phone away for a bit and read a book instead. Tune out the noise of social media and always having to be connected to something. Clear your mind.

Try an at-home workout: If you don’t feel comfortable going to the gym, especially now during COVID, browse Youtube and find a workout that you’ll enjoy and get your body moving.

Make a new dessert: Banana bread or cupcakes or cookies, the possibilities are endless. Try out a new fun dessert and treat yourself. I love trying out a new recipe and seeing which I’ll like for the future.

Clear clutter: I thrive off the feeling of being productive, cleaning, and clearing clutter. There is quite literally no better feeling. Follow up with a warm shower and it’s a perfect self-care day.

DIY a face mask: Browse Pinterest for a DIY face mask catered to your skin’s needs or use a store-bought face mask you have on hand at home.

Journal: I know journaling makes me feel better. The idea that I’m getting all my feelings out on paper to a non-existent source makes me feel relieved. If you don’t want to talk to a friend about your feelings, using a journal is a fantastic choice.

Do you have a self-care activity that you love to do? Let me know in the comments below! I’m always looking for new and fun ways to take time for myself.

  1. I do almost everything you mentioned. In addition from this year I started another new thing- sitting by the window and looking at sky or trees. Just not doing anything but gazing and doing it alone. It helps me a lot to rejuvenate in short time.
