International Women’s Day holds a special place in my heart just because I live for women empowerment and celebrating women’s accomplishments, small and large. This year to celebrate, I thought I’d share 4 of my favorite women-owned businesses in my home city – Detroit. If you have any other women-owned Detroit businesses or just women-owned businesses in general, please share them with me in the comments below or send me a message on any of my socials.
Rebel Nell: Rebel Nell is a jewelry company that was founded in 2013 by Amy Peterson. They take scraps of Detroit that are other wise known as trash but turn it into something beautiful and one-of-a-kind. Visiting old buildings like the Joe Louis Arena and the Palace of Auburn Hills, Rebel Nell takes the art from those buildings and transforms it into rings, bracelets, necklaces, and more. Their mission comes first and is the most important, everything else comes after that.

Detroit Cookie Company: This absolutely delicious cookie shop is beyond unique and simply delicious. What started out as experimenting with different cookie flavors, unique to Detroit, has now turned into two storefronts and a growing business. Detroit Cookie Company sells flavors like banana pudding (my personal favorite), browned butter pecan, and s’mores. These cookies melt in your mouth and is definitely is a must-see if you live in the Metro-Detroit area or are visiting.

Ferne Boutique: Ferne Boutique has several locations across Michigan and can also be purchased online through their website. They strive to serve all women with above and beyond customer service. With specially curated and regularly rotated pieces, you’re sure to find that unique piece at this boutique.

For the Love of Sugar: Established in 2010, For the Love of Sugar was founded on the basis of simply loving sugar. I mean, who doesn’t love a rich slice of cake with a warm latte? You can simply visit for a slice of cake or a couple of their macrons, or order a whole cake, special and unique to the celebration of your choosing.

Here’s to celebrating all the women this special holiday!
XOXO, Tayler
