The next couple of weeks, a couple of my friends are going to be writing blog posts for my site. This week we’re starting with my friend Waad. She shares the importance of positivity and what the past year has showed her.
* * *
Hey everyone, my name is Waad and Tay has asked me to make a small appearance in her blog which I am honored to do!
This year has been an emotional rollercoaster in so many ways. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve been happy, I’ve been sad, I’ve felt so many emotions. Some that I can’t even explain. The one thing that has gotten me through the rough times and the even better times is my friends and the kindness of people. I have been lucky enough to be blessed with some of the most supportive and loving people in life. I don’t know if calling them friends is the right word, I think calling them family is more appropriate.
One simple “love you” or “miss you” text, one quick phone call, a couple minutes of seeing each other can truly change my day into becoming more positive. These are always big gestures, although simple and small. These small things truly make an impact on someone, especially when they really need it.
This year has made me realize that life is full of unexpected obstacles. Having supportive people in my life got me through these obstacles. You’re probably wondering where this is going. Well, I am here to convince you that one small gesture can make a positive impact on someone without you even realizing it.
Here’s what you’re going to do:
If you haven’t talked to someone in a while, but still appreciate them, shoot a text asking how they are.
If you didn’t call your mom today and tell her you love her, call her right now.
If you haven’t smiled at a stranger yet today, go out and change that (even with your mask on, it’s all in the eyes now).
Spread positivity, spread love, spread support, spread kindness.
Tell someone how much they mean to you. It will mean more than you think.
Love,
Waad
